StoCarrier Aero is the new name for our proven carrier board solution for rainscreen cladding facades (RSC) with rendered surfaces, natural stone tiles, ceramics, and glass. Our carrier board product family sits under the umbrella name StoCarrier. Aero symbolises the light and airy nature of our unique product, which is made from 80 percent by volume recycled glass. It also captures its affinity for frequent use in rainscreen cladding facades.
Although the StoCarrier Aero name is new, our versatile render carrier board continues to deliver consistent quality and remains suitable for use as an RSC carrier board: in new build and renovation projects, as an allrounder for refurbishment projects, for use in external wall insulation systems, and even in interiors. It’s a solution that will stand the test of time.
At 6 kg per m², our StoCarrier Aero render carrier board is up to 70 % lighter than other commonly available carrier boards. Combining light weight with other impressive properties, the render carrier board delivers a whole host of benefits in terms of application and efficiency:

StoVentec
RSC systems that use carrier boards
StoVentec is a diverse and complete system for ventilated rainscreen cladding facades. The interplay between sub-construction, carrier board, and the many and varied coating and cladding materials opens up numerous design possibilities. The system build-up is always the same up to the finishing coat or cladding.
StoVentec systems R/S/C/M/G
- StoVentec enables individual detail solutions combining texture, colour, and the impact of the selected building materials to be crafted in harmony with the prevailing architectural concept.
- The scope for initiative ranges from rendered surfaces in intense colour shades (StoVentec R), to ceramic tiles and brick slips (StoVentec C) or natural stone panel tiles (StoVentec S) and even glass mosaics (StoVentec M) and glass panes (StoVentec G).
- The flexible render carrier board makes three-dimensional designs and curved facades a reality.

Recycling
We are committed to a resource-efficient production process for our StoCarrier Aero render carrier board, which is made primarily from recycled glass. How does it work? Recycled glass is transformed into lightweight expanded glass in a multi-stage production process. The tiny beads produced are compressed with binder, aggregate, and a durable glass fibre reinforcing mesh to create carrier boards. The glass surface is given “a new lease of life” as a high-quality building product.
What’s more, the StoCarrier Aero render carrier board is supplied complete with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) detailing the product’s carbon footprint.

Our render carrier board has been proving its worth in Sto facade systems for more than 30 years. Planners and tradespeople delight in using this universal carrier for a whole range of different surfaces and materials in rainscreen cladding facades. As a lightweight yet hard-wearing render carrier board, it is able to withstand wind loads, earthquakes, and extreme weather conditions as part of facade system. It is an equally ideal solution in EWIS facades when used as a renovation board for areas subject to a risk of impacts (for bridging window blind or roller shutter boxes, for example).
Exterior render carrier board
The impressive properties of the StoCarrier Aero render carrier board are ideal for use on facades and soffits. The board is overwhelmingly mineral, diffusion-open, frost-resistant and moisture-resistant, malleable, pressure-resistant, and easy to apply. As a non-combustible carrier board (A2-s1, d0 to DIN EN 13501-1), it is suitable for use in buildings with increased fire protection requirements. It is also ideal for timber frame construction, in projects aiming to upgrade the energy performance of a building, and in industrial applications.
The carrier board is equally versatile for use in interior applications such as boarding ceilings and walls, in rooms exposed to moisture, in bathrooms, and when refurbishing areas that suffer from very high humidity. The diffusion-open render carrier board prevents mould, ensures that rooms heat up quickly, and regulates ambient interior climates.

Developed for high-stress situations
The next logical step in the development of our proven lightweight construction boards also features the benefits of our patented Verolith® filler. The natural raw material we use creates a carrier board that is lightweight, hard-wearing, and easy to work with. With StoCarrier Hydro, you can tackle even unusual sources of moisture.
StoCarrier Hydro lightweight construction boards effortlessly deal with areas dominated by contact with water and complex applications. The 15 mm version is specifically designed for roller shutter covers. Thanks to the high resistance to damp, the product even works well on surfaces with a significant slope.
StoCarrier Reno
For hard-wearing rendered facades
StoCarrier Reno is the ideal solution for rendered facades that require some assistance to withstand the stresses to which they are exposed. The “Reno” part of its name indicates that it is especially well suited to renovations. For these application ranges in particular, we recommend the render carrier board made of expanded glass granulate with anchor plate recesses:
- as effective impact protection in the plinth area of an external wall insulation system, for example
- as a render carrier board for damaged rendered facades and EWIS in need of refurbishment
Secure fixing with bonding and anchoring ensure a lasting hold.
